Sergio Granados
Sergio Granados, a native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, is a lifelong public servant and community advocate dedicated to expanding opportunity, strengthening neighborhoods, and supporting residents of all ages and backgrounds. His commitment to community engagement serves as the foundation for the mission of the Sergio Granados Civic Association.In 2013, Sergio made history as the youngest Commissioner ever elected to the Union County Board of County Commissioners and the youngest Democratic county commissioner elected in New Jersey. He served four terms, including two as Chairman, concluding his service in December 2025. Throughout his tenure, Sergio focused on listening to residents and translating community needs into meaningful programs and services.During his time in office, he championed initiatives that expanded workforce development opportunities, strengthened public safety collaboration, supported youth and senior programs, and increased access to vital community resources. He also helped lead initiatives such as expungement clinics, cultural heritage celebrations, business support programs, and outreach services designed to support families and vulnerable populations.Sergio earned his Bachelor of Business Management and Master of Public Administration degrees from Kean University after attending Union County College. He resides in Elizabeth with his wife, Kellianne, and their son, Alexander, and remains deeply committed to the community that shaped his dedication to public service.

Ed Oatman
Edward T. Oatman is a respected public servant and community leader with more than two decades of experience building partnerships that strengthen communities and expand opportunities for residents across New Jersey. As President of the Sergio Granados Civic Association, he helps guide the organization’s mission to connect families to resources, support youth and seniors, and promote volunteerism and community engagement.Throughout his career, Oatman has been known for his collaborative leadership and his ability to bring together government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and private partners to address community needs. His work has focused on improving access to services, supporting workforce and educational initiatives, and advancing public health, safety, and civic engagement.His leadership experience includes overseeing large-scale community initiatives, coordinating crisis response efforts, and developing programs that support families, seniors, small businesses, and vulnerable populations. Through his role with the Civic Association, he continues to help expand partnerships and develop programs that create lasting impact.Oatman holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Kean University. He resides in Woodbridge with his three children. Ed remains actively involved in youth sports and community initiatives.
